The Damsels in Design Mentoring Program aims to educate, support, and nurture its members to become successful designers who are actively engaged in the design community. The program also serves as an introduction to our organization’s events, and professional and educational learning tools. Mentors volunteer their time and responsibility of helping to foster the social, educational and professional goals of their mentees

To accomplish these goals, Damsels in Design actively engages its mentors and their mentees with educational courses, lunch and learn sessions, and events especially for participants of the program. Mentoring Chairs are responsible for guiding the relationships and providing assistance and answer any questions along the way.

Mentor/mentee relationships develop over time with the assistance of the Damsels in Design Mentoring Program events and education sessions. If a friendship, partnership, or employer/employee situation develops out of such mentoring relationship that is fantastic and should not be cut short due to strict time limitations. However, it is expected that mentors will provide assistance and nurture mentees and new members of Damsels in Design until they are comfortable navigating our organization and our events on their own (approximately 6 months).

Mentors and Mentees will be selected based on a thorough application process as well as interviews with the Chairs of the Mentoring Program. Damsels in Design ensures both parties are comfortable with the time commitment, responsibility and the goals of the program. Upon acceptance, mentors and mentees will be invited to a kick-off event where the Mentoring Program Chairs will review and discuss the goals, objectives and components of the program.
